livedalen hall

Livedalen Hall, dedicated during Homecoming 1963, was named for a Hatton, North Dakota, farmer, Ole Livedalen, who had willed to Concordia its largest single gift to that date. Livedalen provides housing for 231 men and features a separate recreation room with ping pong, foosball and pool tables. A single-story annex, containing a lobby, information desk and the hall directors apartment, connects the residence hall with the Normandy Center, which houses a snack bar and the Cobber Bookstore.

Information desk: The hall information desk is located in the main lobby and is open from 4 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday-Friday and noon to 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. In addition to providing student phone numbers, the desk staff also makes change and checks out equipment.

Rooms: All of the rooms are two-person rooms with the exception of one single room on each floor. Each room is furnished with beds (80'' x 39''), built-in wardrobe, dressers, mirror, desks, chairs, bookshelves, study lamps, drapes and private telephone.

Lounges and recreational areas: The main lobby consists of a small waiting area for students and guests. The main lounge is located on the lower level. It is furnished with a color television, tables and chairs, a piano, ping pong tables, pool tables, and a foosball table. Ping pong paddles, pool cues and balls, assorted sports equipment, games and videos may be checked out at the desk. A stereo-listening room is located just off the lounge. The lounge closes at 2 a.m. Sunday-Thursday and at 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Study areas: Study rooms are located on each floor. A study lounge with carrels is also located in a section of the lower lounge.

Kitchen: A kitchenette, complete with stove, refrigerator and microwave oven, is located in the basement just off the laundry area and is available to residents of Livedalen. Cooking utensils may be checked out at the desk.

Laundry facilities: The laundry room is also located in the basement. The facilities include automatic commercial washers and dryers. Students must furnish their own irons.

Cleaning equipment: Assorted cleaning utensils are available at the desk. Vacuum cleaners may be checked out at the desk for a nominal fee.

Storage room: The storage room, located in the basement, provides storage for suitcases, trunks and seldom-used items. Contact a staff member to make arrangements for its use. The college does not assume liability for items stored in the storage room. Also, items which are unmarked, or unclaimed for two years, will be donated to local charities or otherwise disposed of.
