Getting your Student Organization Recognized

Congratulations on Starting a New Organization!

Requirements in Starting an Organization:

  1. Mission Statement
  2. 4 Concordia student members
  3. Constitution
  4. Faculty Advisor

Steps in Becoming a Recognized Organization at Concordia College:

Step 1: Fill out the Intent to Start an Organization form and turn into the Cornerstone Programming Center. You must have 4 Concordia students, a mission statement, and a faculty/staff advisor to begin this process.

Step 2: After filling out the Intent to Start an Organization form, you have 30 days to write your Constitution and secure your Advisor. During these 30 days you have the following privileges:

i. The right to reserve Concordia facilities for the purpose of holding initial organizational meetings.

ii. The right to publicize group meetings.

iii. The right to invite membership.

Step 3: Once your Constitution and Student Organization Registration Form are turned in you will need to set up a meeting time with the Organizational Support Commissioner to discuss your organization. This info is then submitted to the Organizational Review Committee for review. If your Constitution needs revisions, it will be sent back to you to make those changes. After the Organizational Reviewal Committee has reviewed your organization, the Organization Support Commissioners will contact you regarding the status of your organization.

Step 4: If your organization is approved by by the Organizational Review Committee, you will need to register your organization online. The Organization Support Commissioners will contact you with these instructions.

  • If you want to have members from NDSU or MSUM, you will need to complete the Dual-College/Tri-College Student Organization Registration Form.
  • The Student Organization Handbook is a great resource for any questions on organizations and the policies of Concordia.
  • If you have any questions regarding this process or need any assistance, please stop in or call the Director of Student Programming or the Organizational Support Commissioners located in the Cornerstone Programming Center.
