leadership & service

 

The Office of Leadership and Service fulfills the mission of the college by encouraging and equipping students to practice leadership through service to the campus and community.  The office works with individuals and groups to assist them in understanding the nature of leadership and service, and in effectively carrying out these responsibilities. A particular emphasis of this work is to support students in meeting the goals for Liberal Learning, especially goal #1.

The office provides coordination of the college's efforts to provide quality curricular and co-curricular Service-Learning experiences in the Moorhead-Fargo area.  The office is the first point of contact for students, faculty or community members who want to be involved in campus and community partnerships.  The office works with faculty and students to integrate service with academics and instill in students a lifelong commitment to community service and leadership.

  • knowledge of and relationships with community based organizations

    consultation with individuals or groups on issues related to leadership and service (i.e.; team-building, organizational structure, collaboration, etc.)

    training on leadership and service topics

    resources on leadership and service topics ( additional resources are located in the Cornerstone Programming Center)

    information about the opportunities to be involved in on and off campus activities and programs

  • assistance with the exploration of the connection between vocation and service (i.e. information about Americorps and other post-graduation service opportunities, etc.)
