Visa validity after break in studies

The Department of State issued new guidance in January 2006 about the validity of your American visa following a break in studies of 5 months or more.  For students who remain continuously enrolled during the academic year and maintain their student status, this guidance will not affect you.  But if you will have a break in your studies of 5 months or more, it is important you consider this.

If this applies to you, we suggest you read the State Department cable then come to visit Angela.   The new guidance says that if you have a break in your studies of 5 months or more, then your current visa will be considered to be invalid, even if you depart the country in good status.

State Department information about student visas is available on their website.
